'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith continues battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he remembers the dramatic final moments of Swansea's epic comeback win against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles after the on-field celebration.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a long-range shot from 25 yards, and Cameron Burgess quickly converted the loose ball before racing off toward the East Stand to revel in the moment, with supporters swarming the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The victory sealed an unbelievable recovery given the team had trailed 2-0 deep into the second half. In the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan trying to get our attention and we were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're humans, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The victory earned a fourth-round match at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a club Galbraith ran close at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. Galbraith had an excellent perspective when Orient took the lead in remarkable manner, with Jamie Donley's long-range effort from about 45 yards going in via the crossbar and the opposition keeper. It seems unfair that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've given it to him for attempting the shot from that distance," says Galbraith, who played in the middle before moving to right wing-back after the team changed shape. That meant getting to grips with Jack Grealish, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the winger was among the City players who paid tribute to the way the underdogs attacked the game.

Opponent's Class

"Physically they are outstanding but even the basics and routine actions, they can just do it over and over again," Galbraith says. "It feels like they always find their target and they know how to manage and take the sting out of a game. You can believe you're holding your own and then suddenly they will just thread a ball between defenders without you even seeing. You have to be alert throughout of the game. It takes a tough attitude and concentration just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

The club were keen on Galbraith in January and secured his signature to bring him in in the summer in a significant move. He became a favorite as a crowd pleaser across two seasons at Orient and has quickly replicated that in his new home. At Orient he reunited with Richie Wellens, who previously gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in senior football on loan at a League One side from Manchester United. Then came a spell at fourth-tier Salford City, before he moved on from Manchester United.

Development Path

"I was perhaps a somewhat inexperienced going into senior level. I think numerous professionals would say youth team games is completely distinct. Sometimes it feels like the ball is moved without serious challenge. You see few tackles or duels. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adapt rapidly."

National Team Success

His progress reflects that maturation for both domestically and internationally, performing well for Northern Ireland, who could still reach the World Cup next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has started the past five games, including two matches fixtures against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, paid him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he controls possession and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Starting Out

This represents quite the ride for the player from the Queens Park estate in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who used to see his father, the elder Galbraith, also a central player, play for a local club.

Old Trafford Memory

The player's only game for United came in the away trip in 2019, a European competition trip to Astana, where they featured on an synthetic surface and the arena covering was sealed owing to temperatures of freezing cold. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was cold out there," he recalls, grinning. "The preceding week, myself and quite a few of the young lads worked out jointly, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was amazing."

Moving On

How difficult was it to leave United, the club he transferred from aged his mid-teens? "It was relatively straightforward, because I got to the stage where I understood I wouldn't break through at first-team level. I'm extremely thankful for the time I spent there but it got to the point where I felt I needed to go my own route, join a smaller club and play men's football. Now I'm gradually progressing again."

Life in Swansea

It is mid-afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has an appointment at the early evening: a driving theory test, another progress toward getting on the road. Before his recent move to Sketty, the 24-year-old was a constant rider in Swansea's nicknamed team minibus, a team vehicle driven by club employees, Pete and Howard, which transports players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with a teammate, the Brazilian, Malick Yalcouyé – Melker Widell used to be in it but has got his license. It's nice to socialize with the lads but I'm planning to be the following person to drive independently and on the road. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's constantly causing mischief."

Fan Interactions

While playing for Leyton Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside supporters on public transport after beginning his trip at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
