Approximately 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The liquid had been placed in the form of a swastika, they added.
Police then located multiple other smeared cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests show the fluid was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; investigators are currently not informed of any harm in association with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the residents for information.
A senior representative commented the vandalism rendered him speechless and required to be resolved promptly.
"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
